January is Radon Action Month!
The Minnesota Department of Health and Wright County Public Health are taking the month of January to promote additional awareness to Radon. Radon is a public health concern in the State of Minnesota and Wright County. It is a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas found in our soil that is the leading cause of cancer to non-smokers. In Minnesota, 40% of homes can have radon levels that can cause health concerns, and in Wright County, 47% of the homes tested have radon levels that can cause health concerns. As a result, both the state and the county want to promote Radon testing in homes.
Wright County is distributing test kits. You can obtain a test kit from the Health & Human Services Department, while supplies last, by calling, Wright County Public Health, at (763) 335-0280 or visit the Wright County Government Center, Health & Human Services Department, at 3650 Braddock Avenue NE, Suite 2100, Buffalo, MN 55313.
